Debunking Myths
Myth 1
Some people believe that a hotter sunbed will lead to a better tan. However, this is not true. Heat does not increase the effectiveness of tanning, and excessive heat exposure can lead to skin damage. Earlier UV-systems generate unwanted heat during a tanning session as a result of infrared radiation, which often leads to reddened or tense skin after sunbathing.
At Yassou-Me, our innovative LED-based SunSphere system avoids this unwanted infrared radiation using only the wavelengths desired during tanning.
Myth 2
Do lay-down sunbeds provide you with a better tan than stand-up ones? No.
Stand-up beds have different UV radiation distribution and are more intense, meaning shorter sessions are required to achieve the desired results, while lay-down sunbeds offer a more relaxing tanning experience.
Myth 3
If you think that closing your eyes whilst tanning is enough to protect your vision, think again. Eyelids are a thin, delicate form of skin which only provide tanners with the equivalent of SPF 5. It is not enough to rely on keeping eyes closed throughout the session as this can still risk tanners’ vision being compromised.
Myth 4
Do tingle lotions burn your skin? The answer is no. Although tingle lotions can leave skin hot and uncomfortable, this isn’t sunburn. Tingle lotions irritate the skin, encouraging increased blood flow, which helps speed up the natural tanning process, for deeper, faster results.
This is an intentional feeling with very clear results that can also help break through tanning plateaus but the sizzling sensation isn’t for everyone.
